The sun pours condolence
upon the aftermath of rain.

A beggar child rummages
among the garbage
for scraps of food:
for him the sun is listless.

There's a single red rose
upon the scraggly plant
Ma waters regularly.

Hunger and roses,
both are blood-red blooms.
